The Virani Distinguished School Leader Award Qualifications
Must be a TFA alum (of any region), living and working in Houston OR a principal of a TFA Houston partner school (a partner school is a school that hires and supports TFA corps members).
Must be a full-time school principal in Houston (not an assistant principal).
Must have 2+ years of experience as a principal as of June 2026 (have completed two or more full school years).
All nominated candidates must plan to return to their current district as a principal in the '26-'27 school year.
For partner school principals, must have at least 2 years of partnership with TFA Houston as of June 2026 and a track record of showing up as a strong partner.
Must Be a Leader Who: Pursues Opportunity for All, Strengthens Their Community, Achieves Great Impact, Chooses Courage in Their Work, Acts with Humility, Demonstrates Resilience, and Learns Continuously
